Two letters containing responses from Jefferson Davis. One letter, written September 23, 1853, by Colonel H.K. Craig of the Ordnance Department, recommends Captain J.A.J. Bradford as new commander for the Baton Rouge Arsenal. The second letter, dated June 13, 1880, is a response to a previous inquiry by Frank Moore relating to the Confederate Congress.

Born at Fort Pitt in Pittsburgh, Pa., in 1791, Henry Knox Craig entered the U.S. Army in 1812 and fought at Fort George and Stony Creek, Canada, receiving promotion to the rank of captain in 1813.
